This album is a breath of fresh air, and definitely my favourite Florence + The Machine album.
Florence is a modern Kate Bush, and i swear she can float through walls. Although this is an album perfect for singing in the shower, it’s worth so much more than that. It’s catchy, mystical, fun and powerful executed by a haunting voice that stays with you long after you’ve switched it off. And seriously, you will have a new appreciation for the tambourine.
Florence + The Machine are one of the very few bands that have not strayed from their roots, including in their most recent releases, they are heartfelt, pure and sung with courage. But if you want to get a feel of their personality, Lungs is where to start with it’s mixture of toe tapping melodies and dance anthems it will have you putting on a kimono and going bare foot with flowers in your hair. Florence Welch is so quiet and quaint as a person, it’s hard to believe such a powerful and distinct voice comes from within! Many times i have watched interviews and been blown away by how humble she is.
This album always brings a smile to my face and lifts my spirits when a real spirit (vodka) fails to do so.
