St. Louis artist Gus, also known as August, is continuing a decade-long musical journey with the 2026 re-release of his debut single “GROWING STRONGER.”

Gus has been making music for more than ten years, building a catalog through collaborations with independent artists, professional mixtapes, live performances, and his own creative ventures. His musical journey began with “GROWING STRONGER” in 2016, a release that performed well on SoundCloud but never received the momentum needed to become a major hit. Now, in 2026, Gus is bringing the song back with better vibes and an upcoming visual.

Over the past decade, Gus has recorded more than 10 professional mixtapes and a semi-album, continuing to develop his sound and identity as an artist. One of his notable projects, “GIFTED AS A RAPPER,” received strong feedback and was created as a dedication to Chance the Rapper, an artist Gus deeply admires for both his music and Christian faith.

His semi-debut album “DA FINALE,” released at Christmas 2022, became another important milestone. The project received strong reactions, with listeners describing it as both a classic and a breakthrough in Gus’s artistry. The album’s lead single, “WWJD?”, reached number one on the iTunes Christian charts in Europe, motivating Gus to expand the project into several additional versions, including Backstage (Da Remasters), The Opening Act (Da Live Shows), The Final Act (The Remixes), Commentary Edition, and the original United Masters Edition.

What made “DA FINALE” particularly significant was Gus’s hands-on approach. The project was created from scratch with assistance from several lesser-known collaborators, while the beats, lyrics, and visuals were all original. He followed the project with “TEN” in 2023, an era that has been compared to Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy era.

Beyond his own music, Gus has been developing GNE, a division of the CRW, as an independent artist and faith-based creative business. The company is currently partnered with Grind by Faith Music Group and has ambitions that include annual college tour dates with its artists and a yearly festival at Disney World.

Looking ahead, Gus is preparing several new projects, including “SMILE,” which is positioned to become his first studio album. The project is expected to feature Ye along with potentially several other major names. He also has upcoming performance opportunities, including smaller Coast2Coast Live dates, surprise appearances, and a potential opening slot for a major touring artist.

Gus is currently managed by TRILL Entertainment and hopes to secure a multi-album record deal with EMPIRE, with whom he already has affiliations. With a reported online following of approximately 315,000 people, Gus is aiming to grow that audience beyond one million over the next year through collaborations, major music platforms, and continued community building.

His plans extend beyond traditional music promotion. Gus is preparing “BIG JOZN: LIVE AT THE JOYFUL NOIZE,” a greatest hits project scheduled for October that will feature a band, event tickets, and a setlist highlighting some of his best songs.

He is also developing JOZN CITY, a community designed to give fans a deeper connection with him rather than simply functioning as a traditional artist merchandise audience. Gus plans to take the community directly to cities including New York City, St. Louis, Chicago, Los Angeles, the Bay Area, and Texas, distributing flyers, free merchandise, and invitations to become part of the movement.

At the same time, Gus is working to bring his extensive back catalog and previously released visuals up to industry standards. Some of the material was recorded on limited budgets and is currently being edited and refined by experienced engineers. The full catalog is expected to become available soon.

Gus’s ambitions reach beyond music as well. He is targeting an appearance on America’s Got Talent within the next year and hopes to secure a residency at a major theme park such as Six Flags or Disneyland.

His vision for “SMILE” is equally ambitious.

“I want SMILE to sweep the Dove Awards when it’s time and to be considered for a Grammy. I’m standing on faith! Please come into agreement with me!” — Gus

Gus is also expanding his creative work into film. He is set to appear in the upcoming film “I MISS MY OLD DOG ELLIOT,” scheduled for release on Hulu this Christmas. The role presents a new challenge for the artist as he portrays a character on the autism spectrum. Meanwhile, another surprise project is reportedly on the way, although Gus is keeping its details under wraps for now.

At the center of Gus’s journey is his faith. He credits the people who have continued to support and pray for him as the foundation behind everything he does.

“I just want to glorify God and serve Him through everything I do.” — Gus

His wide range of influences reflects the diversity of his creative vision. Gus draws inspiration from artists including Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, NSYNC, Tupac Shakur, Lecrae, Boyz II Men, Brockhampton, Chance the Rapper, Justin Bieber, LaRussell, Will Smith, Lizzo, Beyoncé, Ye, Whitney Houston, Prince, The Beatles, Queen, Journey, Harry Styles, and Ariana Grande, along with classical, jazz, opera, and musical theatre artists.

With the re-release of “GROWING STRONGER,” Gus is revisiting where his professional journey began while simultaneously building toward an ambitious future. From independent music and faith-based creativity to live performances, film, community building, and his upcoming studio project, the St. Louis artist is continuing to grow on his own terms.
